About Captain Richard
I was born and raised in Charleston. I grew up on the Stono River, fishing from neighborhood docks until I got my first boat at 10. It wasn’t a nice boat but it got me out to the river to explore more fishing areas.
I have been a fishing guide in Charleston for 18 years, leading fishing charters year round in the beautiful waterways of the Charleston area. I am proud to support the Kiawah Conservancy which works to preserve the nature and resources in the region.
I have a 50 ton master captain’s license from the United States Coast Guard, and I am fully insured. I cater to all skill levels of fishing from advanced anglers with an interest in a specific species, to beginners who are new to this great sport. Family fishing trips including dolphin tours, harbor and nature tours are the perfect family activity
If you book a Charleston charter tour with me, there are numerous locations we can fish. Locations include inshore, nearshore, and fly fishing tours in and around Historic Charleston Harbor, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Folly Beach, Sullivans Island, and Isle of Palms.
When I’m not on the boat leading a charter, I may be out competing. I have been fishing professionally for over a decade as an inshore guide and captain of a 41 ft Viking Sportfish. I fish many local tournaments when time allows with wins in tournaments like the 2010 IFA Charleston event!
